In this episode of “Strive to Thrive,” I had the pleasure of sitting down with Alex Falzon, a leadership coach and trainer who’s been in the field since January 2020. Alex shared his journey into coaching, explaining how his 18 years in sales made him realize the importance of personal growth and the lack of resources available for such development in many roles. This realization led him to take a leap of faith and start his own coaching business, with a focus on unlocking people’s potential and helping them become better versions of themselves.
During our conversation, Alex emphasized the importance of coaching and how it’s different from training. While training is like medicine, helping to fix specific issues or teach certain skills, coaching is more like vitamins, providing the ongoing support and accountability needed to reach one’s full potential. Coaching, as Alex explained, is about asking the tough questions in a safe environment and pushing people out of their comfort zones to achieve their goals.
We also discussed the three pillars of success in coaching: consistency, setting clear goals, and having someone to hold you accountable. Alex highlighted the importance of embracing a growth mindset, which is essential for anyone looking to improve and achieve success. He shared that mindset is everything, especially in sales, and how it’s crucial to maintain a positive outlook even when facing setbacks.
Alex also touched on the role of mindset in overcoming challenges, offering practical advice on how to refresh and reframe one’s mindset when things aren’t going as planned. He mentioned simple strategies like listening to good music, taking a walk, or reflecting on past successes to get back on track.
Before wrapping up, Alex talked about his Facebook page, “The Sales Profession Malta,” which is dedicated to building pride in the sales profession. With over 1,400 members, it’s a community focused on personal and professional growth.
In conclusion, Alex’s insights into coaching and the importance of mindset resonated with me, reaffirming my belief in the value of coaching. It’s a powerful tool that can positively impact anyone’s life, helping them take that crucial step toward success.
